The San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk added gas to the fire when he posted a video on social media one day ago. In that video, he took multiple jabs at head coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch. But right after Aiyuk’s thoughts on his HC and GM went viral, former NFL wide receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh was one of the critics who did not hold back.
“He might not step foot in the NFL stadium again if he doesn’t shut the (expletive) up.” his strongest message was aimed directly at Aiyuk. “Like, what is he doing?” For Houshmandzadeh, the latest incident was another example of why he believes the wide receiver needs to change course.
“The NFL is rolling with or without you.” Houshmandzadeh ended his remarks with a message that extended beyond Aiyuk and served as advice for every player in the league. “The NFL is rolling with or without you. Get your ass on a bus and enjoy the ride, or get your ass off because we are rolling. This bus is gonna keep going with or without you.”
“Why are you doing this?” He finished by asking one final question. Houshmandzadeh’s broader point was that Aiyuk risks hurting his reputation around the league if the distractions continue.
Aiyuk has remained in the spotlight this offseason as questions continue to surround his relationship with the 49ers. The latest wave of criticism came after Aiyuk’s viral video sparked fresh speculation about his future and his conduct.
In that video, the star wideout said, “The same general manager that tried to run me down and come apologize for his head coach. Because his head coach got a temperament of a (expletive) toddler and was speaking out of the side of his (expletive) mouth to me.” He did not stop there and called out GM and HC, calling them “weirdos” and creepy predators”. It prompted Houshmandzadeh to issue a passionate response on social media.
But the former NFL WR did not only call out Aiyuk but also the Commanders GM Adam Peters.

In his brief talk, Houshmandzadeh addressed speculation linking Aiyuk with the Washington Commanders, where general manager Peters previously worked in San Francisco and knows the receiver well.
Houshmandzadeh believes Washington, and especially Peters, should avoid hiring him. “Adam Peters, you sign Aiyuk; the Commanders should fire you the day you sign him,” T. J. said.

The veteran wide receiver then questioned why another organization would expect a different outcome if the issues surrounding Aiyuk continue. “What makes y’all any different than the San Francisco 49ers? You don’t think he’s gonna do to you what he’s doing to them? I don’t understand this.”
His comments reflected the belief that any team pursuing Aiyuk would have to weigh not only his talent but also the off-field drama that has followed him over the past year.
Houshmandzadeh also brought up another factor that has fueled trade speculation. Aiyuk is close friends with Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels, and many fans have wondered whether that relationship could make Washington a logical landing spot if San Francisco ever decided to move him.
The former Bengals receiver questioned whether that friendship should even enter the equation. “If I’m Jayden Daniels, BA is my boy. If it doesn’t work out, is he still gonna be my boy? Do I even want to see if it will work out? Because I may ruin a relationship over sports.”
His point was that football decisions can have personal consequences, especially when close friends become teammates under difficult circumstances. Whether Aiyuk responds publicly remains to be seen. Still, Houshmandzadeh’s remarks have added another high-profile voice to the ongoing conversation surrounding one of the NFL’s most scrutinized wide receivers this offseason.
