The Philadelphia Eagles have signed the two-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle Jalen Carter to a four-year, $152 million contract extension worth up to $160 million. Carter’s agents, Drew Rosenhaus and Jason Rosenhaus, confirmed the agreement along with Adam Schefter’s reporting.
The new deal includes $106 million in guaranteed money and carries an average annual value of $38 million, making Carter the highest-paid defensive tackle in NFL history. The extension keeps the 24-year-old under contract with Philadelphia through the 2031 NFL season.

According to contract details, Carter signed a four-year, $152 million extension that includes $106 million guaranteed and an average annual salary of $38 million, per Spotrac. For the 2026 season, he is set to earn a base salary of $1,145,000 along with a $2,578,570 roster bonus while carrying a salary cap hit of $6,938,300.
The extension marks a dramatic rise from Carter’s rookie contract after the Eagles selected him with the ninth overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.
His original rookie deal covered the 2023 through 2027 seasons and was worth $21.8 million over four years. It included a $12.86 million signing bonus, with the entire $21.8 million fully guaranteed at signing. That contract carried an average annual salary of approximately $5.45 million and would have made him an unrestricted free agent in 2028.
By signing Carter to the extension now, the Eagles secured one of the league’s most dominant interior defenders well before he reached free agency while rewarding him with a record-breaking payday.
