The Buffalo Bills and Josh Allen clinched a superb 40-41 win against the Baltimore Ravens, and their next matchup is going to be against the New York Jets. But as Justin Fields and his team might be figuring out ways to defeat HC Sean McDermott‘s team, former Jets star and ESPN analyst has chimed in to give the Jets’ defense one more way to tackle Allen’s fantastic offense and their drives.

Former Jets LB Reveals Key Tactic to Stop Josh Allen and team

ESPN analyst and former Jets linebacker Bart Scott took help from the films from the Bill vs Ravens matchup, where cornerback Marlon Humphrey and the Baltimore defence were ready to tackle the Bills’ offence. So, while analysing the films, Scott said, “The best way to knock off timing, and Marlon Humphrey understands this, is to press. Because you can press here, and you can slow down this player.” As you can see in the video, Bart was pointing to Bill’s wide receivers and indirectly urging the New York Jets’ defense to press the offensive players and linemen.

Further explaining the clip, Scott continued, “But now what happens is you have ten yards where guys can run fast at you in space, and they have two-way goals for you. So if the Jets are going to be played the way that I prefer to play it, it’s to throw off the timing by being aggressive at the line of scrimmage. This is a line stunt. You try and get them off the spot, and then you want to get Owe, who’s from the right side, to come and set the new edge.” And Scott lastly added, “So, if Josh Allen were to run, we would have run him down. But he bought enough time, because the timing wasn’t going off, he had time to throw.”

So, basically, what the former Jets linebacker and analyst is trying to convey to his former team is that they have to create pressure on Bills QB1 with multiple attempts and not allow too much time for him to get through them. That’s what Allen did against the Ravens in his Week 1 victory. At the start of the 4th quarter, the Buffalo Bills were 19-34 against the Ravens.

But within 12 to 13 minutes, Josh Allen changed everything with his perfect throws. And lastly, the 40-year-old kicker Matt Prater‘s field goal was the cherry on the cake. Though 15 points is not a major gap for any offence to cover, what Bart Scott is trying to find a way here is creating pressures and fighting for inches and not yards.
