Davante Adams has long been recognized as one of the NFL’s elite wide receivers, known for his precise route running and exceptional hands. However, his success is also deeply rooted in the chemistry he shares with his quarterbacks. Over his 12 years of career in the NFL, Adams has developed notable connections with two of the league’s most accomplished quarterbacks: Aaron Rodgers and Matthew Stafford.
Adams recently appeared on ESPN’s countdown show before the Philadelphia Eagles vs the Los Angeles Rams. When Adams was asked, “Davante, you’ve had so much high-level success in your career, particularly all those years with Aaron Rodgers. Now with Matthew Stafford, where would you say your chemistry with your new quarterback is right now?” He replied, comparing chemistry with two veteran QBs. Adams replied to ESPN’s reporters’ panel, “It’s in a good spot. It’s in a good spot for, you know, the work that we’ve been able to get together. Obviously, Aaron and I are working together for, you know, having eight years together in Green Bay and then playing last year together as well.” He did not stop there.
Talking about Stafford and Rodgers, he also added, “You know, it takes some time to get to that type of rapport, but we’re working right now, and I like we’re in a pretty good spot for only having two games in. And as you’ve seen from the last game, it’s just going to continue to get better from this point on.” Well, he definitely needs some time to gel with the mindset and behavior of the star QB.
But during their eight seasons together with the Green Bay Packers from 2014 to 2021, Adams and Aaron Rodgers formed a formidable duo. Per many sources, they accumulated over 8,000 receiving yards and 73 touchdowns. And not once, but Adams has often spoken highly of Rodgers, emphasizing the depth of their connection. In a 2021 interview, Adams stated, “We push the envelope to get better every day,” highlighting their mutual commitment to excellence.
Rodgers has also expressed admiration for Adams, noting, “I don’t know how much I can say about it because of tampering. But we still have a great relationship. He’s a great player.” Despite their on-field success, Adams has described the environment in Green Bay as challenging, likening it to a “nimbostratus cloud cover,” suggesting a stifling atmosphere that may have contributed to his departure.
Following his release from the New York Jets, Adams signed with the Los Angeles Rams. It was clear then that the star WR will be working with veteran quarterback Matthew Stafford. Adams has expressed appreciation for Stafford’s leadership and poise, stating, “I thank God that I have a quarterback like him for sure.”
Stafford’s confidence and experience have provided Adams with a renewed sense of stability and optimism. In the 2025 season, Adams recorded 10 receptions at 21 targets and covered over 157 yards and a touchdown over the first two games.
Looking ahead, the Rams are set to face the Jets in Week 3, marking a significant matchup for Adams against his former team. This game presents an opportunity for Adams to demonstrate his growth and the evolving chemistry with Stafford. But before the game started, Davante Adams called out the Eagles’ CB Quinyon Mitchell when asked about the potential tussle.
Adams Calls Out Eagles’ CB Quinyon Mitchell
Ahead of the Rams’ Week 3 game, Adams was asked about facing Eagles’ rookie cornerback Quinyon Mitchell. Mitchell, who is known for his impressive rookie season and nickname’ Quinyonamo Bay’ due to his lockdown corner abilities, is expected to shadow Adams during their matchup. Adams acknowledged Mitchell’s potential but expressed confidence in his ability to challenge the young defender.
Adams remarked, “I mean, really, it’s not just him. They’ve got a great defense all across the board. He’s a great young player. I think he shows a lot of promise for the future. But I’m hoping I can show him a few things that he never had to deal with before today. So it’ll be fun.” Adams’ comments add extra heat to what is already shaping up as a highly anticipated showdown between the Rams’ star receiver and the Eagles’ promising secondary.
As the Rams prepare for their upcoming game against the Eagles, all eyes will be on the matchup between Adams and Mitchell. There will also be a huge expectation from the chemistry between Adams and Stafford.
