The Chicago Bears can’t seem to catch a break. Just as the season felt like it was starting to settle in, the injury list keeps getting longer. And it’s not filled with backups, either. Big names on both sides of the ball are popping up, and with a tough road trip to Las Vegas on deck, the timing couldn’t be worse.

The latest practice updates show a team that’s banged up, especially on defense, and it leaves plenty of questions about who will actually be on the field come Sunday. The Bears are limping into Week 4, and the latest injury report isn’t exactly what fans wanted to see. In the latest report, the Bears’ several key players have now missed two straight practices, putting their status for Sunday’s matchup with the Las Vegas Raiders in serious doubt.

Chicago Bears Injury Update on Thursday

First of all, linebacker T.J. Edwards and cornerback Kyler Gordon were both out again with hamstring issues. Add in defensive tackle Grady Jarrett (knee), rookie tight end Colston Loveland (hip), and right tackle Darnell Wright (elbow), and that’s a lot of important names watching from the sideline. If they can’t go, the Bears will be without leaders in the middle of the defense, depth in the secondary, and one of their best young blockers.

Meanwhile, the report flips the coin here as there’s at least some good news. The team’s star Tight end, Cole Kmet, shook off a groin injury and was back to full participation Thursday. Along with him, linebacker D’Marco Jackson was also a full-go for both practices, and running back D’Andre Swift (hip) has been limited but is still trending toward playing. Per the latest chicago Bears injury update, cornerback Jaylon Jones (hamstring) is in the same boat. He was limited, but moving in the right direction.

The problem is, the Bears’ defense has already struggled this season, and losing Edwards, Gordon, and Jarrett at the same time would be a major blow. On top of that, if Wright isn’t able to suit up, quarterback Justin Fields could find himself under constant pressure from Maxx Crosby and the Raiders’ defensive front.

So, the bottom line is, the Chicago Bears’ injury report suggests that Caleb Williams’ offense looks like it’s getting healthier, but the defense is in rough shape heading into Vegas. Yikes. Friday’s final injury report will be the one to watch, but right now, the Bears are facing an uphill battle.

Actually, the Bears have shown flashes of progress in the 2025 season. But inconsistency and injuries have kept them from finding a steady rhythm. The Bears’ 2025 season has had moments where the offense looks explosive, especially with playmakers like D’Andre Swift and Cole Kmet healthy, yet the constant shuffling on the offensive line and a defense battling multiple injuries has left the team struggling to close out games.

Looking ahead, the Bears’ future hinges heavily on health. If key defenders like Edwards, Gordon, and Jarrett can get back on the field and stay there, the team has the talent to compete week in and week out. But if injuries continue to pile up, Chicago could find itself in another season of “what ifs,” with potential growth slowed by the inability to keep its core players together.
