The Dallas Cowboys fans are not unknown to Osa Odighizuwa’s community work. Back in June 2025, the star defender visited the David Douglas High School in Portland to mentor young football talent, where he had also played ball once. Also, Odighizuwa does a lot of appreciable work through his foundation, named the Odighizuwa Foundation, which he founded with his brother. Odighizuwa’s foundation was actually inspired by his mother, Abieyuwa’s, experiences raising them as single parents.
So, respecting his work for the betterment of society and human beings, the National Football League Players Association honored Osa Odighizuwa on Sept. 12 by declaring him NFLPA Community MVP. This update was first broken out by ESPN’s Adam Schefter on his Instagram and X.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Instagram on Sept. 12, 2025, that the Cowboys defensive tackle Osa Odighizuwa is the Week 2 NFLPA Community MVP after he hosted a baby shower for 20 single moms in the same city. Odighizuwa and his foundation will be replicating this special event in his hometown of Portland during the team’s bye week in November.
In response, Odighizuwa said in a statement, “I’m truly honored to be selected as an NFLPA Community MVP. Giving back to my communities in both Dallas and Portland is something that’s very close to my heart.” The 27-year-old defensive tackle also added, “I believe every professional athlete has a responsibility to give back and set an example for the younger athletes who look up to us.”
Per sources, Odighizuwa personally funded the event, which included a five-course meal, games, and resource packets. Per reports, each mother received more than $500 worth of essential baby supplies as part of the funds. Reports say the defensive tackle will shower more mothers in Portland, Oregon, in November 2025, where he attended David Douglas High School.
In June 2025, the foundation partnered with Hire the LBK for a Teen & Young Adult Job Workshop. The Odighizuwa Foundation donated a portion of the proceeds in this workshop. And while doing this work, the Odighizuwa Foundation has also hosted back-to-school drives in Dallas and Oregon in the summer of 2025. Those back-to-school drives have provided over 150 families with school supplies, as well as athletic equipment.
In March 2025, the Dallas Cowboys and Osa Odighizuwa agreed to a 4-year, $80 million deal. But with quite a big contrast extension, the star defensive tackle has shown his mentality and mindset of giving back to people when you are at your top.
