On September 11, the Green Bay Packers faced off against the Washington Commanders and quarterback Jayden Daniels. The game ended with the Packers dominating, scoring 27 points while the Commanders managed only 18. This victory marked the Packers’ second win of the 2025 NFL season. After the game, fans noticed the impressive performance of former Dallas Cowboys edge rusher Micah Parsons and proceeded to troll Cowboys general manager and owner Jerry Jones for several significant reasons.
In the 27-18 game, Parsons did not back down to pressure Daniels and the team with great sacking attempts and tackles. He successfully sacks the Commanders’ sophomore QB Daniels with the help of teammates, tallying 0.5 sacks and two tackles in the game. Since he arrived in Green Bay, Parsons has been giving solid performances. His Week 1 sack against the Detroit Lions was so fabulous that it threw fans into a frenzy.
This is one of the reasons fans did not miss the opportunity to thank Jerry Jones for trading this beast to the Packers. After the game, when Parsons was giving an interview, the Packers fans on the sideline did not spare time to chant, “Thank you, Jerry,” as Micah was also seen enjoying the chants.
Micah Parsons relieved after Green Bay Trade
Since mid-March 2025, the former Cowboys star has been waiting for a contract extension. However, he was forced to wait for several months, which frustrated the star defender to the point that he requested a trade from the Cowboys on August 1, 2025. After so much agony of not getting the share of money the franchise owes him as a star player, Parsons had publicly told the Cowboys, “I don’t want to be here anymore.”
And on Aug. 28, the headlines on various publications were flooded with only one update: ‘The Cowboys are trading Parsons to Green Bay’. Though after the trade, Parsons was reportedly seen happy and jumping around at home as he came across the news. Parsons reportedly took a sigh of relief after his agent, David Mulugheta, informed the star NFL defensive player about the same.
Jerry Jones and the Cowboys traded Parsons to the Packers in exchange for Kenny Clark. The interesting part of the story was that Parsons has become the highest-paid non-QB in NFL history after signing a four-year, $186 million contract with the Packers. This includes $44,000,000 of signing bonus and $136,007,000 guaranteed amount. Parsons will take home an average annual salary of $46,500,000 before taxes are applied.
But the Green Bay Packers fans are feeling happy that it was worth paying Parsons $186M as the star edge is having a great time (statistically also!) in Green Bay. Let’s see if he can take down Joe Flacco in the upcoming game against the Cleveland Browns on Sept. 20, 2025.
